Public Transportation

PTSC Bus Service – Public Transport Service Corporation better known by locals as “PTSC Bus Service” has a weekly schedule to and from Maracas Beach. Leaving the Port of Spain Bus Terminal every 4 1/2 hours beginning at 4:00am. The last bus leaving from the North Coast (where Maracas Beach is located) leaves Blanchissuese , a village about one (1) hour after Maracas Beach, at 7:30pm. This means that you should probably be at the Maracas bus stop around 8:15pm. Fare: TT$4.00 (one-way)

The PTSC buses are all air-conditioned and are well maintained. There is lots of room below the bus and in overhead compartments. So fill free to pack your cooler, beach chair, umbrella, dog (just kidding) . . .

Though the last bus leave Maracas Beach at 8:30pm, we recommend leaving no later than 5:00pm. Especially for tourists who are visiting for the first time and may fall prey to those wanting to take advantage of lack of knowledge . . .

You can purchase tickets at the Port of Spain Bus Terminal.

Feel free to hop on or off the bus at any bus stop along the way.

Maxi Taxi – For the adventurous and those that are not fans of buses you can hop on a Maxi Taxi at the Corner of George and Prince Street, Port of Spain. Availability is dependent on . . . however many Maxis are working that day . . . however, most times, there are Maxis at the stop waiting to head to Maracas Beach. Fare: TT$13.00 (one-way)

The condition of these maxis vary and space for carry on bags is very limited.

Hired Taxi

There are many options of service for hired taxis. From strictly taxi service to taxi & tour combo, rates start at TT$350.00 and up.

Be sure to hire taxi that are reputable and well known. You may be enticed to go with taxi that offers cheap fares but they may not be reliable or safe.
