Best Villages’ Food and Folk Fair

The Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition will host its annual Food and Folk Fair at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain on May 6. The theme for this year’s festival is One Family, One Nation, Preserving Our Heritage, Celebrating Our 50th Anniversary of Independence. There would also be special performances from National Calypso Monarch 2012, Duane O’Connor; Junior Soca/Calypso Monarch, Aaron Duncan; National Humorous Calypso Monarch, Myron B; National Chutney Soca Monarch, KI Persad; Benjai and Black Stalin, among others.

Every Woman – Chaka Khan in Concert

Trade and Investment Convention 2012

Hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association, the Trade & Investment Convention (TIC) will celebrate its Thirteenth Anniversary from May 16th – 19th, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad, Port of Spain, Trinidad. TIC is the largest tradeshow of its kind in the Caribbean region, and will bring together hundreds of manufacturers, service providers, buyers and distributors, financial institutions and investors, and regulatory agencies responsible for trade. 16th May, 2012 – 19th May, 2012.

8th Annual Rainbow Cup Triathlon (May 26th)

The Rainbow Cup is an International Triathlon held in Tobago with competitors from different islands. Indian Arrival Day (May 30th)

On May 30th 1845, the Fath Al Razak docked in the Port of Spain harbour in Trinidad and Tobago with 225 adult passengers on board. The passengers were immigrants from India who had come to the British colony to work in the sugarcane plantations after the abolition of African slavery. Indian Arrival Day, celebrated on 30th May, commemorates the arrival of the first Indian Indentured labourers from India to Trinidad, in May 1845.
